This is probably one of the most depressing things I have ever done... a blog. I hate with a perfect hatred the idea of having to start this blog, but I think this is probably the only way to get out the real truth of what is going on in the Orthodox Church here in the US (and Canada, don't want to forget them 'Loonies,' or is that their money...?).
What I do see going on with the other blogs and news sites is rather silly. Yes they all are out to 'win', and now it is my turn. What makes this effort more distinctive is that I think all of us are guilty and in need of God's help.
To do this, we must get to the truth, and I plan to tell the truth (as much as I know) no matter who it hurts. I will not make excuses for sins, no matter who does them. Yet I will try also to be fair and impartial in my condemnations. There is quite enough blame to go around.
We will undoubtedly begin with the sordid mess of the OCA, but do not doubt for a minute that we will soon be discussing the GOA, the Antiochians, the Episcopal Assembly and other institutions of the Church in need of some spring cleaning.
So, let us begin!
Your words are reasonable, your analysis cogent -- but your anonymity? In the current circumstances, it severely undermines the relevance of what you have to say. Too many agendas floating around and the key thing we need to do moving forward is work together and interact with one another as Christian persons rather than as cartoon characters. Anonymity has proven it can be poisonous, I'm not drinking any koolaid I find lying around in unlabeled bottles.
